Joe Schultz’s career spans scholarly and technical publishing, information technology, local government, urban and environmental planning, and international development. Before joining the ICCT he was a senior editor for Technology and Culture, the journal of the Society for the History of Technology, and managed publications for Catholic Relief Services, a U.S.–based nonprofit that operates emergency relief, public health, and economic development programs in some 100 countries around the world. Among various stops before that, he headed the technical writing group at Horiba Ann Arbor, a supplier of vehicle emissions testing labs to car and truck manufacturers and the oil industry, worked for community organizations in Detroit and as a museum blacksmith, and did a stint on the midnight shift at the Rouge Plant.
