Program Director / Regional Lead
Daniel Rutherford is the ICCT program director for marine and aviation. In that capacity, he acts as the ICCT’s chief representative to International Maritime Organization (IMO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) environmental committees developing policies to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from marine vessels and aircraft. He contributes to work on light and heavy-duty vehicle efficiency as ICCT's Japan lead, and has co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles and technical reports on aircraft and airline fuel efficiency, technologies to reduce air pollution from ships, emission policies for new and in-use heavy-duty vehicles, and global passenger vehicle efficiency standards. Dr. Rutherford holds a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota at Morris and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Science from Stanford University.
